Brief description of Current Primary Focus:
I am a Doctoral student in the EdD Dance Education program at Teachers College, Columbia University. My interests are in somatic practices as applied to dance education for early childhood. I am also one of the first eight students certified by the late Nancy Topf and am actively working to preserve her work which is in direct lineage of Mabel Todd. I am currently in training with Susan Bauer to be certified as an Embodiment in Education teacher.
Education and Certifications:
BFA, MFA, MA, EdD (in progress), RYT200, RSDE with ISMETA and certified in Topf Technique®
Learning Experiences Related to Mabel Todd’s Educational Legacy:
As stated above I was a student of Nancy Topf who was a student of Barbara Clark who was a student of Mabel Todd.
Professional activities, areas of research, or personal inquiry related to the goals of TBI:
I followed my career as a professional dancer with a life in dance education—primarily PreK-12. I have presented many times at NDEO (National Dance Education Organization), been published in CQ (Contact Quarterly) and the Dance Education in Practice Journal through JODE (Journal of Dance Education).
I am in the first year of my Doctoral studies with interests in Somatic Practices and Early Childhood Dance Education. I am currently editing the posthumous manuscript of Nancy Topf for publication by the University Press of Florida.
